Daily Herald journalists vote to form news guild

Original: Daily Herald journalists win election to form Daily Herald News Guild

Journalists at the Daily Herald have won their union election, formally establishing the Daily Herald News Guild. The vote was announced by The NewsGuild-CWA, the labour union that will represent the newsroom. The new guild gives staff collective bargaining power over pay, benefits and working conditions, joining a broader wave of newsroom organising across the United States.

Why now: Newsroom union victories are drawing attention amid a wider wave of media labour organising.
