ICE misses body camera training target for field agents
Original: Not all ICE field agents trained on body cameras, missing target date
US Immigration and Customs Enforcement has missed its target date for training all field agents on body cameras, meaning not every officer in the field is equipped or trained to use them. The shortfall raises questions about transparency and accountability in immigration enforcement operations, particularly around how agents' conduct during arrests is documented.
Why now: Ongoing scrutiny of ICE's transparency and accountability practices is drawing attention to the agency falling behind on its own body camera rollout deadline.
