Trump tells Kurdistan24 US will never abandon its allies
Original: Trump to Kurdistan24: US Will Never Abandon Its Allies as Forces Leave Iraq
US President Donald Trump, in an interview with Kurdish broadcaster Kurdistan24, said the United States will never abandon its allies even as American forces reduce their presence in Iraq. The remarks are directed in part at the Kurds and other partners who cooperated with Washington, offering reassurance amid concern over the withdrawal of US troops from the region.
Why now: Allies in Iraq and the wider region are anxious about the implications of the US troop drawdown.
