DigitalOcean has donated $3 million to Omarchy, the Linux setup project associated with David Heinemeier Hansson, while reportedly cutting back its open source credits program that supports maintainers. Developers are criticising the contrast, arguing the company is favouring a high-profile project over the broader open source community that relies on its support programmes.
Why now: Developers see the donation and the cuts to open source credits as contradictory, sparking criticism of DigitalOcean's open source priorities.
