A bird feeder describes how often feral pigeons try to court while being hand-fed: females eat calmly from an open palm while a male paces, spins and performs his courtship dance along the feeder's forearm, at times jumping between hands to reach the female. The anecdote has drawn amused responses, with tag communities swapping similar encounters showing how bold and unbothered urban pigeons are around humans.
Why now: It is a lighthearted, relatable wildlife anecdote in pigeon-loving online communities, where bold courtship behaviour surprises and amuses people.
