Former US envoy Brett McGurk publishes Gaza war memoir
Original: McGurk releases Gaza war memoir
Brett McGurk, the veteran American diplomat who served as President Biden's coordinator for the Middle East, has released a memoir covering his role during the Gaza war. The book recounts the internal debates, ceasefire negotiations and regional diplomacy he managed from late 2023 onward. Commentators are weighing its account of Washington's decisions and the criticism of US policy it may invite.
Why now: Fresh publication of a firsthand insider account of US decision-making during the Gaza war draws attention amid ongoing debate over that policy.
