Wembanyama refuses to promote betting, criticizes NBA peers
Original: Victor Wembanyama speaks out against NBA players promoting betting, prediction markets: 'I will never do that'
San Antonio Spurs star Victor Wembanyama has publicly said he will never promote sports betting or prediction markets, taking a stance against a growing practice among NBA players who endorse gambling platforms. His comments put him at odds with a league-wide trend of athlete partnerships with betting companies and are drawing attention in the basketball world.
Why now: Athlete promotion of betting and prediction markets is a hot-button issue in the NBA, and a top star openly rejecting it stands out.
