Apple smart home camera reportedly won't record video
Original: Apple's smart home camera reportedly won't record video
A new report claims Apple's upcoming smart home camera will not record video, a notable limitation for a device in the home security category, where continuous recording is a core selling point for rivals like Google Nest and Amazon Ring. The report has prompted discussion about how Apple would position such a product and what privacy or design choices might explain the omission.
Why now: A home camera that doesn't record video would be highly unusual, and the report touches on Apple's privacy stance versus competitors.
