David Ellison Keeps CNN Leadership in Place for Now
Original: David Ellison's Vision for CNN: Same C.E.O and No Bari Weiss, for Now. https://www.nytimes.com/2026/10/01/business/media
David Ellison, who now leads Paramount, has outlined his plans for CNN, and they center on continuity: the network's chief executive is keeping his job, while Bari Weiss is not joining the network, at least for the moment. The New York Times reports the approach signals stability rather than an immediate shake-up at the cable news outlet.
Why now: Ellison's takeover of Paramount has raised questions about whether CNN's leadership and editorial direction would change, so his early choices are being closely watched.
