Boeing Averts Seattle Strike as Engineers Ratify Contracts
Original: Boeing Averts Seattle Strike As SPEEA Ratifies Contracts
Boeing has avoided a strike in the Seattle area after SPEEA, the union representing its engineers and technical workers, ratified new contracts. The vote removes the threat of a work stoppage at Boeing's Puget Sound operations, a development noted by aviation industry media. Details of the contract terms, including wage and benefit provisions, have not been widely reported in the available coverage.
Why now: A strike at Boeing's key Seattle engineering workforce would have added to the company's ongoing labor and production troubles.
