Physicists Report Superconductor That Breaks Time Symmetry
Original: Physicists Find a Superconductor That 'Breaks' The Symmetry of Time – A First For Its Kind
Physicists report the first known superconductor that appears to break time symmetry, meaning its properties are not the same when time runs forwards or backwards. The claim is described as a first of its kind in condensed matter physics, and science commentators are sharing the finding as a notable anomaly that could shed light on exotic superconducting states, while specialists await independent confirmation and peer scrutiny of the results.
Why now: The claimed first-ever observation of time symmetry breaking in a superconductor is a surprising result that challenges expectations in physics.
