With about 12 days until early voting begins in Georgia, Republicans on the state election board are reportedly considering a call for federal assistance to update election software. The move follows a letter from Senator Markwayne Mullin to US Attorney General Todd Blanche, reportedly raising concerns with the Justice Department. Critics see the last-minute timing as politically motivated, while supporters frame it as a routine security upgrade ahead of the election.
Why now: It touches election administration in a key swing state just weeks before early voting starts.
