The Office of Hawaiian Affairs has released a documentary, 'Held in Trust', exploring the history and future of public lands in Hawaiʻi leased to the US military. The film examines how these land arrangements came about and what their future may hold, drawing attention to ongoing debates over military use of Hawaiian trust lands.

Why now: Renewed public debate over US military leases on Hawaiian lands, including controversies at Red Hill and training areas, has put the topic back in the spotlight.
