Scientists Develop Long-Lasting Local Anesthetic Lasting Weeks
Original: Scientists Develop Local Anesthetic That Lasts Weeks Instead of Hours https:// scitechdaily.com/scientists-de velop-loca
Researchers have developed a local anesthetic that can numb tissue for weeks rather than the few hours achieved by current drugs such as lidocaine. The advance could transform pain management after surgery, dental procedures and chronic pain treatment, reducing the need for repeated injections or opioid painkillers. Reports describe the work as a significant step in pain control, though wider availability will depend on further testing and regulatory approval.
Why now: The unusually long duration of numbing is a major potential advance over existing anesthetics, sparking broad interest among medical professionals and patients.
