Original: fernando mendoza

Fernando Mendoza, Indiana's quarterback and one of college football's biggest names this season, is at the center of a debate after Russell Wilson urged caution around the growing hype, instead praising Kirk Cousins' resurgence. The remarks have sparked discussion among fans about whether Mendoza's rapid rise is being overplayed and how he should be evaluated heading into the next stage of his career.

Why now: Mendoza is a Heisman-caliber quarterback drawing national attention, so high-profile comments tempering expectations fuel debate.
