France rewards intelligence allies with medal diplomacy
Original: Spotlight Europe, France, Middle East France showers intelligence allies with medal diplomacy
France is awarding medals to foreign intelligence partners as part of a broader charm offensive covering Europe and the Middle East. The honours are being used to cement cooperation with allied spy services, a discreet but telling signal of where Paris sees its security relationships heading and how it values back-channel intelligence ties.
Why now: Intelligence cooperation is a sensitive, rarely publicised area, so public recognition of allied services draws attention to France's shifting security priorities.
