Trump likely to name Jay Clayton as AI czar
Original: Trump likely to pick Jay Clayton for AI czar, sources say
Former SEC chairman Jay Clayton is expected to be named by President Trump as the White House's top official on artificial intelligence, according to sources cited by CBS News. The appointment would put Clayton, a lawyer and former securities regulator, in charge of coordinating the administration's AI policy at a time of intense federal focus on the technology.
Why now: The potential appointment of a securities regulator to lead AI policy raises questions about the administration's direction on artificial intelligence oversight.
