Protest erupts over Chief Justice amid election panel objections
Original: cjp protest
A protest linked to the CJP is drawing attention in India, coming as the Indian Express reports that two Election Commissioners objected on record to poll panel steps 14 times in 10 months. The overlap has fuelled public debate about the independence of top constitutional institutions and the scrutiny they face from political and judicial quarters.
Why now: Ongoing concerns about the independence of India's top judicial and election institutions have put the protest in the spotlight.
