NBA shuts Senegal academy, shifts training hub to Abu Dhabi

Original: NBA closes its only African elite academy in Senegal as new training hub moves to Abu Dhabi

The NBA has closed its only elite training academy in Africa, based in Senegal, and is relocating its development hub to Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates. The move ends the league's flagship player-development programme on the continent and marks a strategic pivot of its international training operations to the Middle East.

Why now: The closure of the NBA's sole African academy and its relocation to Abu Dhabi raises questions about the league's commitment to African basketball talent.
