Malaysia steps in to host Bahrain Grand Prix on 10 weeks' notice
Original: How Malaysia stepped in to host Bahrain Grand Prix and fill F1 calendar void with 10 weeks notice
Formula 1's Bahrain Grand Prix is set to be staged in Malaysia after the Southeast Asian country agreed to step in with roughly ten weeks' notice, filling a gap left on the calendar. The arrangement marks an unusual late switch of host venue for a round of the world championship, and motorsport fans are weighing in on the logistics and what it means for both countries' races.
Why now: A last-minute host change for an F1 race is rare and prompts debate over costs, contracts and the sport's calendar planning.
