Zack Polanski is set to call for a three-year 'emergency brake' on private rent increases, according to BBC News. The proposal, aimed at easing pressure on tenants in the private rental market, touches on the wider UK debate over housing costs and tenant protections, and is likely to draw responses from landlords, tenant groups and rival parties.
Why now: Housing affordability is a live UK political issue and the proposal is a new intervention by a party leader.
