New ICE documentary compared to a horror film
Original: The ICE documentary as chilling as a horror movie: ‘We’re trying to put the audience in a position of terror’
A new documentary about US Immigration and Customs Enforcement is drawing attention for its unsettling, horror-like portrayal of immigration enforcement. Its makers say the aim was to put audiences 'in a position of terror', recreating the fear experienced by people targeted by ICE raids and detentions. The comparison to horror cinema is driving discussion of the film's confrontational approach to a deeply political subject.
Why now: The film's deliberately terrifying depiction of ICE enforcement touches a live political nerve around US immigration policy.
