The Portland Trail Blazers have fired a newly hired broadcaster after past misogynistic and racist comments he made during his teenage years resurfaced online. The team moved quickly to cut ties once the remarks came to light, and the case is drawing attention to how organizations vet new hires and handle resurfaced old social media content.
Why now: The rapid firing and the resurfacing of years-old offensive comments have sparked debate about accountability for past behavior.
