Original: Commentary: Movie made inside Beckley Exhibition Coal Mine shows truth is scary as fiction
A new commentary from West Virginia Watch discusses a movie filmed inside the Beckley Exhibition Coal Mine, arguing that the truth of the region's coal mining history is as frightening as any fictional story. The piece suggests the historic mine itself, with its real labor and safety legacy, lends the film an authenticity no set could provide.
Why now: The film's use of a real historic coal mine as a setting is drawing attention to the region's mining history.
