Original: fire point fp-7
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky says the country has used a new ballistic missile for the first time, according to Süddeutsche Zeitung's Ukraine war liveblog. The weapon is linked to the FP-7 produced by Ukrainian manufacturer Fire Point. Observers see the deployment as a signal of Ukraine's growing domestic missile industry amid continued Russian strikes.
Why now: News that Ukraine has fired a domestically developed ballistic missile for the first time marks an escalation in the war's weapons race.
