Southwest updates extra-seat policy for plus-size passengers
Southwest Airlines has changed its policy on extra seats for plus-size passengers. The airline, long known for accommodating customers of size with free additional seating, has revised the rules, prompting attention and debate about accessibility and costs for larger travelers. Reactions are divided between those welcoming clearer guidelines and those concerned the change makes flying more difficult or expensive for plus-size passengers.
Why now: Southwest's policy was unusual among US airlines, so any change affects many travelers and sparks debate over accessibility.
