AIFPA Backs Front-of-Pack Nutrition Labels, Seeks Serving-Size Details
Original: AIFPA Backs FOPNL, Seeks Serving-Size Nutrition Labels
The All India Food Processors' Association has come out in support of Front-of-Pack Nutrition Labelling (FOPNL) and is calling for nutrition information to be shown per serving size. The industry body's position adds to the ongoing debate in India over how packaged food labels should display fat, sugar and salt content to help consumers make healthier choices.
Why now: India is actively debating new front-of-pack labelling rules, and an industry association publicly backing the scheme is newsworthy for regulators and food companies.
