Washington's Sudan diplomacy said to have backfired
Original: Washington’s diplomacy in Sudan has backfired
Al Jazeera reports that US diplomatic efforts in Sudan have backfired, arguing that Washington's approach to the country's war has worsened rather than eased the crisis. The piece contends that American mediation has failed to stop the fighting between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces and has instead complicated prospects for peace.
Why now: Criticism of US policy toward Sudan's civil war is drawing attention amid continued fighting and stalled mediation efforts.
