The city of Imabari in Ehime Prefecture, Japan, has launched its own local ride-hailing app, called Imabari Taxi, with service starting on October 1. Sixteen taxi companies taking part, representing roughly 100 vehicles, will be bookable through the app, which is available on both iOS and Android. The move is aimed at making it easier for residents to hail taxis across the city.
