Pope Leo XIV urges church to ally with artists against AI

Original: "Algorithms lack the spark": Pope Leo XIV calls on church to ally with artists against AI

Pope Leo XIV said algorithms lack the human spark and called on the Catholic Church to form an alliance with artists in response to the rise of artificial intelligence. He framed artists as custodians of human creativity that machines cannot replicate, positioning the Church and the arts as natural partners in defending human dignity and meaning in the age of AI.

Why now: A pope speaking directly on artificial intelligence is an unusual and high-profile intervention at a time of global anxiety about AI's impact on creativity and work.
