Abdus Salam: Pakistan's first and only Nobel laureate revisited
Original: Abdus Salam: Pakistan’s first (and so far only) Nobel prize-winner
Abdus Salam, the Pakistani theoretical physicist who shared the 1979 Nobel Prize in Physics for his work on the electroweak unification of forces, remains the country's only Nobel prize-winner. His legacy continues to draw attention, as his Ahmadi faith led to marginalisation in Pakistan and he is honoured more widely abroad than at home.
Why now: Renewed interest in Salam's scientific legacy and his complicated place in Pakistan's history.
