Independent record labels are encouraging music fans to buy vinyl records during the latest Bandcamp Friday, a periodic event when the Bandcamp platform waives its fees so more money goes directly to artists. Posts promoting new albums, listening parties and live sessions in genres like punk, shoegaze and postpunk are circulating, with fans urged to support their favourite rockers.

Why now: A new Bandcamp Friday is taking place, prompting labels and fans to promote direct artist support through record purchases.
