The Athletic's NBA newsletter The Bounce argues the Eastern Conference has overtaken the West as the league's strongest, a shift from years of Western dominance. The piece examines how roster moves and team strength have rebalanced conference power heading into the new season, prompting debate among fans about which conference now boasts the deepest contenders.

Why now: The new NBA season is starting and the claimed shift in conference power challenges long-held assumptions about Western superiority.
