It is Bandcamp Friday, the monthly event when the platform waives its fees so artists keep more of each sale. Independent musicians are using the day to share links to their releases, playfully calling their self-promotion 'music spam'. Electronic artists in particular are encouraging listeners to check out and buy their tunes directly.

Why now: Bandcamp Friday happens only on select days, prompting artists to flood feeds with promotions while fans are encouraged to buy.
