Iran demands concrete US guarantees to end war
Original: Iran seeks concrete US guarantees to end war, Khatibzadeh says
Iranian foreign ministry spokesman Baghaei Khatibzadeh said Iran is seeking concrete, verifiable guarantees from the United States as a condition for ending the ongoing war. The statement signals that Tehran wants firm US commitments rather than verbal assurances before agreeing to any ceasefire. The demand underscores the difficulty of negotiations between the two countries, which have no direct diplomatic relations, and highlights guarantees as the central sticking point in efforts to de-escalate the conflict.
Why now: Ongoing war involving Iran has made the terms of a possible US-backed ceasefire a pressing global concern.
