Astronomers detect first radio signal from an exoplanet
Original: Astronomers pick up first-ever radio signal from an exoplanet — but it’s not aliens
Astronomers have picked up the first-ever radio signal originating from a planet outside our solar system, according to CNN. The signal is believed to come from a distant exoplanet, but researchers stress it has a natural explanation and is not evidence of alien life. The detection marks a milestone in the search for and study of planets orbiting other stars, opening a new way to observe distant worlds.
Why now: It is the first radio signal ever detected from an exoplanet, a genuine scientific first.
