Ecuador orders deportation of Swedish programmer Ola Bini
Ecuadorian authorities have ordered the deportation of Ola Bini, a Swedish programmer who had been living in the country. Bini became known for his links to WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange during his stay at Ecuador's embassy in London and faced legal proceedings in Ecuador. The deportation order closes a chapter in a case that drew international attention to Ecuador's handling of the activist and those associated with him.
Why now: The deportation of a programmer with ties to Julian Assange has renewed debate over Ecuador's treatment of politically sensitive foreign nationals.
