A DIY worm detector tracks garden movement
Original: On building a worm detector
A blogger has described building a worm detector to map the movements of individual earthworms, writing up the design and what the observations reveal about how worms move on their own and collectively. The write-up has drawn attention among technically minded readers, who are discussing the unusual combination of low-cost sensing hardware and citizen-style biology fieldwork.
Why now: The quirky pairing of hobbyist engineering with earthworm behaviour research has caught interest on a technology discussion site.
