A man has been charged with the murder of his wife on Alderney, one of the Channel Islands. The charge follows the death of the woman on the small island, and police have confirmed the husband will face the accusation in court. Because Alderney has a population of only about 2,000 people, a fatal case of this kind is highly unusual there and has drawn close attention from residents and regional media.
Why now: A murder charge is exceptionally rare on the small island of Alderney, making it striking local and regional news.
