Trump to Name Jay Clayton as Artificial Intelligence Czar
Original: Trump to Name Jay Clayton to Serve as A.I. Czar
President Trump is expected to name Jay Clayton as the White House's top official on artificial intelligence, a role widely described as the administration's 'A.I. czar.' Clayton, a former Securities and Exchange Commission chairman, would coordinate federal policy on the fast-moving technology. The appointment drew immediate attention given Clayton's background in financial regulation rather than technology policy.
Why now: The appointment signals how the Trump administration plans to oversee and regulate artificial intelligence, a subject of intense public and political debate.
