Original: 佐久間宣行
A 21-year-old idol produced by TV director Noriyuki Sakuma has suspended her activities. Her management said the decision was made with the performer's health given top priority. The news was reported by Nikkan Sports and picked up widely on Japanese news aggregators, drawing attention to Sakuma's move into idol production and to concerns over the physical toll of the industry on young performers.
Why now: Sakuma Noriyuki is a well-known TV director, so his protégé's sudden hiatus is drawing broad attention in Japan.
