Electrified Pickle Demonstrated at Electrostatics Society Meeting

Original: 🥒 NEW: Electrical engineer Joshua Méndez Harper demonstrated an electrified # pickle at an Electrostatics Society of Ame

Electrical engineer Joshua Méndez Harper of Portland State University demonstrated an electrified pickle at an Electrostatics Society of America meeting. His team monitored the sparking pickle with a high-speed camera and a hydrogen sensor, finding that alternating current produces both light and hydrogen gas — reviving the classic classroom experiment with new instrumentation.

Why now: The classic glowing-pickle physics demo is getting renewed attention thanks to new research presented at a scientific society meeting.
