Apple May Launch Home Security Cameras That Don't Record Video
Original: Apple's New Gadgets May Be Home Security Cameras. The Twist? They Won't Actually Record Video
Reports suggest Apple is working on home security camera devices that would not actually record video footage. Instead of storing or streaming recordings, the gadgets would reportedly detect motion, presence or activity and send alerts, aligning with Apple's strong privacy positioning. If accurate, the products would mark Apple's entry into the home security market, competing with cameras from Google, Amazon and others while taking a distinctly different approach to how footage is handled.
Why now: Apple's expansion into home security with an unusual privacy-first, no-recording design would be a notable shift in the smart home market.
