Tributes are being paid to Calvin, described as a mentor and teacher whose influence on a generation of aerospace engineers is said to be impossible to overstate. According to Mississippi State University, NASA is described as packed with his students and friends, and other aircraft and rocket organisations are believed to be similarly full of people he taught and inspired.

Why now: The tribute suggests Calvin has recently died or is otherwise being honoured, prompting colleagues and former students to share memories of his impact.
