A new oil drilling platform has arrived off the coasts of Usedom and Wolin, about six kilometres from the German border. Central European Petroleum plans to search for further oil and gas deposits in the Baltic Sea there. According to Deutsche Umwelthilfe, German authorities were not informed in advance, sparking criticism of the cross-border project.
