Disney licenses films and TV shows to Netflix

Original: Disney licenses lineup of movies, TV shows to Netflix including 'Ice Age,' 'Will Trent'

Disney has agreed to license a lineup of movies and television series to Netflix, including the 'Ice Age' films and the ABC drama 'Will Trent'. The deal marks another instance of Disney leaning into content licensing to boost revenue, reversing part of its earlier streaming-exclusive strategy. Netflix gains a fresh supply of established titles for its catalogue as the two streaming rivals deepen an unusual commercial relationship.

Why now: Disney once pulled content from Netflix to build its own streaming service, so renewed licensing between the two rivals is a notable strategic shift.
