Lula says only he can halt fascism under Bolsonaro's son
Original: Brazil’s Lula says only he can stop rise of fascism under Bolsonaro’s son https://www. theguardian.com/world/2026/oct /0
Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva has declared that he alone can stop the rise of fascism led by Jair Bolsonaro's son ahead of Brazil's elections. His remarks frame the coming vote as a direct contest between his Workers' Party and the Bolsonaro family's far-right movement, drawing attention to the continuing political divide in Brazil.
Why now: Brazil's upcoming election is shaping up as a showdown between Lula and the Bolsonaro family, making his combative framing newsworthy.
