Sudan's Armed Forces say they have retaken al-Mazroub, a stronghold of the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces in North Kordofan, in a reported advance aimed at cutting RSF supply lines. The claim comes as the two-year civil war between the army and the RSF continues to shift across Darfur and Kordofan, with both sides regularly announcing battlefield gains that are hard to verify independently.
Why now: The reported capture marks a potential shift in the Sudanese civil war's front lines and the army's campaign to encircle RSF territory.
