Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth is facing sharp online criticism after a widely shared post accused him of replacing experienced Pentagon officials with loyalists while publicly railing against diversity, equity and inclusion policies. The comment, from a prominent political commentator and amplified by others, argues it is hypocritical for Hegseth to lecture anyone about DEI given his own personnel decisions.

Why now: Ongoing controversy over Hegseth's personnel shakeups and anti-DEI rhetoric is drawing fresh accusations of hypocrisy.
