Officials Order Robot Cage Fights to Stop, Organizers Say

Original: Government Officials Order the Robot Cage Fights to Stop, Organizers Say

Organizers of robot cage fight events say government officials have ordered the competitions to halt. The order pauses a form of entertainment in which remote-controlled combat robots battle inside an arena. It is not yet clear which authority issued the directive, on what legal grounds, or whether the events can resume under new rules, leaving the future of robot fighting events uncertain.

Why now: A government crackdown on an unusual and popular robotics entertainment event naturally draws curiosity and debate.
